Relationships Are Everything
/Pam and I are enjoying building new relationships with the precious people that God has called us to serve at the English Christian Fellowship in Costa Rica. The English-speaking expatriate world is a fascinating kaleidoscope of cultures and homelands.
Take Rachel, for example, who is pictured with Pam. Rachel is from India and works as a management executive for a global software company. She speaks eight languages, including English. Since arriving in Costa Rica four years ago, Rachel has served and fellowshiped at ECF.
Even though the congregation is still small, ECF has English-speaking people attending from the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, Uruguay, India, Germany, Russia and Costa Rica. Pam and I are discovering that the expat community is wonderfully global in their worldview. Most have traveled extensively and most have lived in a variety of other countries, not just Costa Rica. It’s been a delight to learn their uniquely fascinating stories!
Pam has an amazing gift of hospitality which God is using to help us build relational bridges with the people we’ve been called to serve. One reason we chose the home we are renting is because it provides a splendid venue for ministry. Our doors have begun to swing open widely as we have new friends over several times a week.
Pam and I have learned that, in ministry, relationships are the key to everything. The time and effort we are investing to build healthy relationships will lay the groundwork for all the exciting advances God will bring in the years ahead. Please continue to pray that we would listen carefully, love well and lead boldly.
Warmly,
Steve
