This past Sunday at our worship service we had three first time guests. Now, that might not be a “head-turner” at Summit. Summit often has 20+ guests every week. But to put it into perspective, the week prior at English Christian Fellowship we only had 10 people present in the entire service. So, when three brand new guests walked in last Sunday, it was a hallelujah moment! Each of them had been personally invited by members of the current ECF church family. Let me explain what that communicated:

  • I believe folks are inviting friends because they sense there is something worth coming to. Pam and I took that as an affirmation that we’re on the right track. 

  • Since day-one, I have been praying for new people. I believe the three guests were specific answers to those prayers.

  • I also believe that the three guests were the first-fruits of many more that will join us in the future. Pam and I nearly floated home from church last Sunday!

So, please keep praying! There is much to be done, and we’re swimming neck-deep in new waters. Pray that we would listen carefully, love well, and lead boldly.

Last week, Pam and I drove 5 hours north to the Guanacaste Region to celebrate our 44th anniversary. We had fun exploring our new country and reminiscing God’s faithfulness throughout the decades.

On the home front, we have made much progress settling in. This week we took possession of a new-to-us vehicle. We purchased a spiffy 2018 KIA Sportage with reasonably low mileage. We also moved into our new home. After being unsettled since May, it’s nice to unpack and begin to put down roots. We are in the midst of deep-cleaning, purchasing furniture, and learning the ropes of living in Costa Rica.
